About ALAC

The Centre
Our aim at ALAC is to provide a fun, safe environment in which all our little athletes are encouraged to strive to achieve their best in a full range of athletic events. At ALAC the emphasis is on Family, Fun and Fitness and To Be Your Best.

About Little Athletics
Little Athletes compete in a variety of events: track events including sprints, hurdles and middle distance running and field events of high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and javelin.

We cater for age-groups from U6 to U17. A child must have turned 5 by 31st of December of that year to be eligible for U6.

Competition
Competition will be Sunday mornings at 9am. We run on a 3 week competition and parent roster system, ie our competition program rotates around on a 3 week basis.

All our event calendars, competition calendars and parent rosters are available on the website.

During competition days we have a information tent that parent helpers and athletes will be able to sign in before competing. Our officials are easily found on competition days as they are wearing brightly coloured vests. Due to age group numbers athletes will at times be competing in the same event as other age groups and gender - however we focus heavily on personal best efforts rather than outright competition results.

Parent Support
Little Athletics is a family sport and cannot operate without parent involvement. A parent or guardian must remain at the centre whilst their child is participating in the activities. During the meets, our Centre requires chaperones for each age group to supervise athletes, officials to conduct the events and helpers to carry out tasks, such as, measuring and raking jumping pits. Kids love to see their parents helping out.

Keeping Informed
Our members can stay informed by checking on our website and also checking out our Facebook page and via email.

Our Centre will have a handbook which will have all our information you need to know about our centre, competition, training, and contact information. It will be available on our website. We will also have a newsletter which will be emailed to parents during the season.

We hope you enjoy the season!
